Gaming has become a huge part of our everyday lives. Our kids are into it, games are made for learning, and there are plenty of adult games to keep parents occupied, too. However, there aren’t many games that are family-friendly that brings everyone together around the television anymore. But that is about to change. A new gaming console that has a focus on all things family-friendly is about to enter the market and you can go ahead and get excited.

According to Romper, the gaming console is slated to release in April 2021 for $250 and will come with two controllers and six pre-loaded games to get you started. According to Intellivision Entertainment, all of the games designed specifically for this system will all be priced at $10 or less. And bonus: you can connect up to eight controllers to the console at one time.
Cara Acker, the vice president of global marketing for Intellivision Entertainment told Romper, “We want to give kids a reason to come out of their individual rooms, adults to put down their individual devices, and have a reason (dare we say, excuse?) to come together.”
“Amico is also designed for anyone, including for people who may not consider themselves ‘a gamer’ or might be intimidated by other systems,” Acker says. “With a broad game portfolio and an intuitive design experience, people of all ages and skill levels will be able to just pick up a controller and start playing.”
Intentionally, the system looks a lot different than the Xbox and Nintendo systems that we are used to seeing and using. Amico’s controllers are held vertically and it comes with a color touch screen and a directional disc. They found that after testing the market that they found this new design to be the most approachable for gamers both young and old.
With families spending so much more time at home and indoors due to the coronavirus pandemic, this new gaming console is a great way to make your home a fun place to be and bring your whole family together. Did someone say family gaming night?
The games played on Amico will all be rated “E for Everyone,” making them okay to play for even the youngest family members. They have also stated that the games will be free from graphic violence or blood, bad language, sexual content, and even in-app purchases and ads.
